Stocked and stylish: fresh finds at the Mohawk campus store

The Mohawk College campus store has seen a stock upgrade with new arrivals hitting the shelves in C104.

The campus store is now selling a variety of new items, both centric to Mohawk College and personal interest as well, ranging from embroidered shirts, track pants, funny graphic tees, stickers, plush toys and even merch for parents.

Miranda Bull, an employee at the campus store, highlighted some of the new merchandise that is steadily filling up the shelves.

“We pretty much always get a lot of new things, like Roots, for example, are some of the new items,” Bull said. “There’s always new mugs and tumblers and stuff like that, so that’s also something that’s popular. There’s always new stuff coming in, new hats, new clothes, all at random, sporadic times. We do have a brand new machine to do custom stuff, so that’ll be something new that’s coming as well.”

While new sweaters and course-branded hoodies seem to be the most popular purchases amongst current Mohawk students, there is still lots of love for the alumni who want to frame their diplomas and show off their graduation on hoodies and shirts.

Jocelyn Pettipiece, a recent graduate from the Graphic Design program, has purchased from the campus store on multiple occasions during her 3 years at Mohawk, as well as buying some new merch post-graduation.

“I get 20% off in the campus store, and the other alumni perks are okay,” Pettipiece said. Alumni can get exclusive savings from local businesses and save on food, fashion, entertainment and more. “Some of the perks are limited to the Hamilton area so if you live outside of Hamilton like I do, it’s unfortunate.”

Alumni aren’t the only ones who can take advantage of new sales and promotions. Though there aren’t any set dates for specific sales that happen in the store, students can stay in the know by checking their inboxes.

“When the management decides they want to do a sale, they send out a mass email to everyone,” Bull said. “There’ll be advertisements on the windows, too.”

However, reduced prices don’t always mean items have become more cost-friendly for students.

“Prices are definitely not what I’d call student-friendly,” Pettipiece said. “I went to the store more for gifts rather than supplies. There were things I wanted that I couldn’t fit into my budget.”

While students can visit the store in person to check out what the store has to offer, students can also browse virtually and purchase course supplies and textbooks through the campus store website  https://mohawk.bookware3000.ca/
