Since their reopening last month, The Cellar has been drawing in many members of Mohawk College.
The student-run bar has become a popular spot for campus life, with pub night’s drawing particularly large crowds.
Located in the basement of the college (Room G027), The Cellar has long been a hub for student activities.
Its reopening has rejuvenated social life on campus, with weekly events like trivia nights and themed pub nights becoming key fixtures.
The $5 pints and reasonably priced meals have been a major draw for students looking for an affordable night out.
During the week of Thanksgiving, The Cellar hosted a themed pub night.
The pub offered traditional holiday dishes, such as turkey and mashed potatoes with gravy, alongside $5 pints of their house lager, Cellar Dweller.
The event was part of the Mohawk Student Association’s (MSA) efforts to provide a welcoming and budget-friendly social space for students.
MSA member Lenny Bensons is a strong advocate for pub nights and enjoys seeing students come together.
“The reopening of the cellar has been rather busy,” said Bensons. “Our fall plan for The Cellar is all about being inclusive and bringing good vibes by integrating first-year students into The Cellar culture alongside returning students.”
Justice services student Oluwademilade Aguda was eager to share his love for The Cellar.
“I love the vibes in here, especially during Pub Nights,” Aguda said. “I can’t wait to see what events they have next.”
With a growing list of activities planned by the MSA, The Cellar’s popularity shows no signs of slowing down.
“The reopening has given students a space they can be proud of, where they can make new connections and even kick off their weekends,” said Bensons.
With more events lined up throughout the semester, The Cellar is here to remain a central hub for student life.
