November is Financial Literacy Month, and Mohawk College is joining the national effort to empower Canadians with fundamental money management skills.

Led by the Financial Consumer Agency of Canada (FCAC), Financial Literacy Month strives to encourage Canadians to “talk about money,” helping them build financial resilience. The Mo’Money Financial Literacy Resource Centre is celebrating with events to support students in managing their finances.
Throughout the month, Mohawk College offers in-person and virtual workshops on credit, debt, saving, and investing. Notable sessions include “Borrowing 101: Mastering Credit and Avoiding Debt Traps” on November 12 and “What’s Your Score?” with Credit Canada on November 20. These workshops focus on helping students understand credit scores, avoid common debt pitfalls, and establish a healthy financial future.
The event series will close with a virtual masterclass hosted by Wealthsimple on November 27, titled “It All Adds Up: Money Masterclass.” This session provides insights into personal finance management from one of Canada’s leading investment platforms.
The Mo’Money Centre at Mohawk College, which has provided financial resources to students for over ten years, sees Financial Literacy Month as a vital opportunity to raise awareness.
The events are free for all Mohawk students and cover topics ranging from budgeting basics to advanced investing. Students are encouraged to register online to secure their spots.
