Lest We Forget: Here are some Remembrance Day events at Mohawk College and around Hamilton

With red poppies on our chests, it is once again time to honour and remember those who fought for the freedoms we hold dear.

Throughout the day, Hamilton will be filled with events and services, here are some.

A Remembrance Day service at Mohawk College taking place in the McIntyre Performing Arts Centre starting at 10:45 am.

  • Event coordinator Montana Hunter said the service will be available to watch both in person and virtually. “We are going to be streaming the ceremony live so it can be watched by anyone who cannot make it,” she stated.

A Sunrise Remembrance Service taking place at Woodland Cemetery Field of Honour starting at 7 a.m.

The City Of Hamilton outdoor Remembrance Day service taking place at the Gore Park cenotaph at 10:30 a.m.

The Mountain Legion RCL Branch 163 Remembrance Day service starting at 10:30 a.m.

Mount Hope Remembrance Day Service taking place at the Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum starting at 10:30 a.m.

Dundas Branch 36 Remembrance Day parade and service starting at 10:15 a.m.

  • Legion member Jim Byron explained the event. “Our parade starts at the fire station, and they march up King Street East to the cenotaph,” he stated. “We will then have the service there honouring our veterans.”

Ancaster Remembrance Day service taking place outdoors at Ancaster Old Town Hall on Wilson Street starting at 10:30 a.m.

A moment of silence will be taken at 11:00 a.m. throughout the city to honour our veterans.
