On Oct. 26, spooky decorations flooded The Cellar on the Fennell campus, with fake spider webs, skull heads, and an outline of a dead body on the ground near the entrance.
It was all in celebration of the school’s Halloween-themed pub night.
DJ Chewy Beats was in attendance playing loud music, which got many students to dance like there was no one around. It also featured a photo booth area so students could remember the night.
The Cellar also included a fixed food and drink menu, which was Halloween-themed to get the students in a festive mood.
The event also had a lot of activities for students to participate in, such as mummy wrapping, and a costume contest, in which the winner won an all-expense paid tour of the CN tower in Toronto. It also allowed students to catch apples with their mouths and watch scary movies, which were played in the background all night.
Lenny Benson is a part of the Mohawk Student Association and explained the importance of these events.
“[The MSA events] create that consistency with the students,” Benson said. “On top of that, it also gives a more distinctive and defining aspect towards the staff and students.”
Joana Inez, another MSA worker shared why students should pay a visit to the different events around campus.
“There are a lot of things to do and a lot of things for people to know,” Inez said. “I think it’s a good opportunity for people to engage with each other.”
The Cellar hosts Pub night every Thursday, in which students can drink, eat and hang out with friends and de-stress from schoolwork.
